Nature of Practice

Xochitl Cortez is a Partner with the firm. Ms. Cortez has concentrated her practice in general business, real estate, financial commercial transactions and estate planning. She is a graduate of the Pepperdine School of Law and the Geoffrey H. Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law, where she was a Palmer Fellow, a Member of the Palmer Student Board, Co-Chair of the Honor Board, and a member of the Micro-Enterprise Program. She volunteers her time coaching high school students in business and entrepreneurship through the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). She currently serves as the chair of the eCouncil for NFTE. Her emphasis has been on the following types of matters:

  • Real Estate
    Purchase and sale negotiation and documentation; Lease negotiation and documentation, both for landlords and tenants; resolution of real property lien, priority, or management disputes.
  • Commercial Financing
    Representation of both lenders and borrowers in financing transactions documenting. Loan documentation, structuring of transactions, perfection of security interests; workouts and problem loans. Operations advice.
  • Business & Commercial Transactions
    Representation of business entities and individuals in transactional matters, including entity formation and business strategy.
  • Estate Planning Transactions
    Representation of individuals and families in all aspects of estate planning.
